Sessions for kindergarten through sacrament preparation will resume in September. Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1. Preparation for First Reconciliation (confession/penance), First Eucharist (Holy Communion), and Confirmation is a two year program.
There are opportunities for all children to learn about God and to prepare for sacraments. There are openings in the program for catechists (teachers) and for catechist aides. Orientation and training are provided! Sharing the faith with the little ones in Saint Anthony Parish is an awesome experience!
Consider generously giving your time and talents to build the Kingdom of God in the Religious Education Program. This is one decision that promises a great return!
For information regarding the program, please contact the Religious Education Office, 954-467-7749.
If you or someone you know is interested in membership in the Catholic Church, or preparation for reception of Eucharist (Holy Communion) and/or Confirmation, please contact the Relilgious Education Office. The group will gather on Sunday, August 16th, at 11:30 a.m. in the Parish Center in the Fine Arts Building across from the Church to develop and discuss the way to go!
There will be a Vacation Bible School beginning Monday, August 3 through 7, 2009, in Saint Anthony Catholic Parish. Please contact Mrs. Solenski, at 954-467-7749 to register your child. Boys and girls who are in first through fifth grade can look forward to exciting Bible Times with games, crafts and stories from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon. Volunteers are needed, too! Come and enjoy the adventures!
Homeless Family Program
A tremendous thank you to all who participated in the Homeless Family Program. We provided shelter for 10 families over the past 2 weeks which was filled with laughter, great food, children's play, safe shelter and kindness. More than 150 parishioners took part of this true community outreach. We have already scheduled June 20 - July 3 for next summer.
Until then, if you wish to continue helping homeless families find safe shelter, please contact Patricia Mantis or Patrick Herlihy at the Coalition to End Homelessness, 954/792-4000.
DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS UNABLE TO ATTEND MASS? IF SO PLEASE CONTACT THE PARISH OFFICE AND ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE FOR A PRIEST OR EUCHARISTIC MINISTER TO VISIT THEM.
Valuing Life
God desires life for all people. The gospel stories reflect God s desire to heal those who are ill and to bring people to the fullness of life and health.
Jesus's approach is very person-centered. He cares for individuals, wants to spend time with the woman who has the hemorrhage, and drives away the crowds so he can personally deal with the little girl and her family.
We may want to contemplate the issues that confront our world.
- God wants life and health for all people. Yet 47 million people in the U.S. lack access to health insurance. In poor nations billions of people lack even the most basic health care.
- God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living. Yet war and violence, irresponsible environmental practices, the death penalty and the practice of abortion continue to kill our brothers and sisters each day.
Life, especially human life, belongs only to God: for this reason
whoever attacks human life, in some way attacks God himself.
John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae, no. 9
